Welcome! We study how children learn about the world, and in particular, how learning language affects how they think and reason about objects, events, and people.

Most of our studies involve children between 0 and 12 years of age, and we're always looking to recruit families who might be interested in participating. Studies take place at the University of Virginia, and typically involve a one-time visit lasting about 30 minutes.

Parents, learn more about our studies and consider registering your family to participate. Our 2011 joint Child Development Labs newsletter is available here!
