Step One: Get Adobe Reader
The course readings and many of the handouts have been saved in Portable Document Format [pdf] to make them freely available to you for downloading and printing. In order to download and print a pdf document, you must have Adobe Reader, a free program, installed on your computer.
Step Two: How Do I Know If I Have It?
If it's on your computer, it will automatically launch whenever you click on a link to a pdf document.
If you don't have it on your computer, your browser will probably prompt you and ask if you want to go and get the plug-in. Well, you do. Pay attention to where it downloads the program so that you can go to the file and double-click on it to install Adobe Reader.
If you use a school computer, and if it has been configured with special protections, you may need to consult your school tech person for assistance.
